Hurricane Preparedness Week

This year’s Hurricane Preparedness Week runs from May 25th to the 31st.  There is a wealth of information on the National Hurricane Center’s web site at www.nhc.noaa.gov/HAW2/english/intro.shtml including Hurricane History, Hazards of Hurricanes, Forecasting (including limitations), and Preparation.

The Preparation section includes detailed information on Developing a Family Plan, Creating a Disaster Supply Kit, Having a Place to Go, Securing Your Home, and Having a Pet Plan.

The week ends this coming Saturday – the day before the official start of the 2008 Hurricane Season -with “Taking Action is as Easy as 1-2-3.”  Step 1 summarizes what to do Before Hurricane Season, Step 2 what to do During a Hurricane Watch, and Step 3 what to do During a Hurrcane Warning.
