June Formation Points

The historical data set from 1851 to 2009 shows that 80 named storms have formed during the month of June.

The climatologically favored regions for tropical (and subtropical) storm formation, as seen in the graphic above, are the western Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Atlantic off the coast of the Southeastern United States.

Given that there are no imminent signs of tropical cyclone development, this is still a very good time to dust off the hurricane plans and make sure you are ready for when the storms and hurricanes do start coming.

  1. Even though we are based in San Diego, we have been providing hurricane shutter solutions nationwide since 1978. We recommend rolling shutters for window and door protection during storms, as well as for energy savings and safety from theft.
    People should make plans well ahead of hurricane season, and securing windows and doors should be a primary concern, not a last minute afterthought.
