Tropical Storm Alex is moving over the western Gulf of Mexico, and it looks like the biggest U.S. impact will be in Texas although there is also legitimate concern over how the wave action might impact the Deep Water Horizon spill.
But let’s not forget the big picture. The El Niño in the Pacific has already faded and the Atlantic sea surface temperatures from Africa to Central America are much warmer than normal, leading forecasters to tell us that this will likely be an extremely active hurricane season in the Atlantic.
So if you make a trip to a home supply store in preparation for the upcoming 4th of July weekend, I think that it would be a very good idea to take your hurricane supply kit checklist with you in case you need to add any preparedness items.
